Building permits for Ontario trades

Know who’s building before your competitors do.

Every new home, addition, pool and basement suite your city approves is a homeowner about to hire. BuildLeads turns each morning’s building permits into a list of jobs for your trade — with the address, the work, the value, and when they’ll need you.

How it works

From city hall to your inbox, every morning

  1. 1

    Cities approve permits

Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and six more cities publish every building permit they issue. We collect them all each morning.

  2. 2

    We sort them by trade

Each permit is read and tagged for the trades it will need — a new pool needs a fence, an addition needs a roof and a new yard — with the reason why.

  3. 3

You get the list at 7 AM

Pick your trade and area once. Each morning you get new permits plus the ones that just reached the stage you’re needed. Call first.

Timing is everything

The right permit, at the right moment for your trade

A building permit is a job months before it’s your job. A landscaper calling the week a house permit is issued is too early; calling when the siding goes on wins the work. Ready now shows the permits at your stage.

🌿 Landscaping

Construction access wrecks the yard, and new builds start from dirt.

Questions

Good to know

Where do the permits come from?

Every city on this page publishes the building permits it issues through its open data portal or public mapping service. We pull each one every morning, keep the residential jobs, and drop revisions, demolitions and plumbing-only permits so you don’t see duplicates.

How fresh are the leads?

We check every city daily. Most cities publish a permit within a few days of issuing it; Toronto’s file can run a week or two behind. Every lead shows the date it was issued.

What does “Ready now” mean?

A landscaper isn’t needed the week a house permit is issued — they’re needed when the house is finished, months later. Ready now shows the permits that are at the stage your trade usually comes in, based on typical Ontario build timelines, so you call when the homeowner is actually shopping.

Do you show homeowner names or phone numbers?

No. Cities don’t publish them and we don’t collect them. You get the address, the work, the declared value and, where the city publishes it, the builder or contractor on file. Most trades use the address for door hangers, mailers and a knock on the door.

Can I contact people from a permit?

Permits are public records, and visiting or mailing an address is common practice. If you email or phone, follow Canada’s anti-spam law (CASL) and the National Do Not Call List.

What do I get for free?

Browse every permit. For the last 9 months you see the neighbourhood, the work and the value; older permits show in full. You can also get one free email with tomorrow’s full addresses for your trade.

Can I cancel?

Yes, anytime, from your account. And if you don’t land a job from a BuildLeads lead in your first 30 days, email us and we’ll refund you in full.
